Nursery Rhyme Fun

Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water
Jack fell down and broke his crown
And Jill came tumbling after.
Up got Jack, and home did trot As fast as he could caper
He went to bed and bound his head
With vinegar and brown paper.

So I read that this had something to do with Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. Can anyone give me more insight?

ted.

does this happen to come from that nursery rhyme book you got - what was that 3 years ago - when we were coming back from Sean's cottage? When none of us in the group could finish a nursery rhyme to save their lives.

and as a parent - i've found that there are at least 6 or 7 versions of each nursery rhyme - depending which book you read.

also - my personal favorite nursery rhyme f* up - for the longest time i forgot one line of the little piggies - all i could think of was:

This little piggie went to the market
This little piggie stayed home
This little piggie ate roast beef
and this little piggie got stoned
and this little piggie went wee wee wee all the way home.

Actually I have no idea why this was in my head but I decided to write in down. I know there are different versions all over the place. I guess that's what happens when parent try to remember these things to tell their children.

Too funny about the little piggies nursery rhyme. Well I guess there could be something worse than getting stoned. I don't know what it is but I guess there could be.
